Kalpana Soren takes oath as member of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly at State Assembly in Ranchi on Monday.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislator Kalpna Murmu Soren today took oath as a member of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Kalpana has recently won the Gandey Assembly bye-election on JMM ticket.

After taking oath as member of the House Kalpna said that she took charge of the election campaign and all responsibility entrusted to her by the party during Lok Sabha elections with full dedication and she will continue to do so in future.

“There is little time left for Assembly elections, but we will use all our potential to make use of the time to do well in the Assembly polls,” said Kalpana.

Notably, after the Lok Sabha elections the Champai Soren led government in State is preparing for a Cabinet reshuffle. Since one of its minister’s Alamgir Alam, is in jail following ED action, it is likely that he will be asked to resign and his post will be filled by a Congress legislator.

The government has recently taken back charge of all departments from the jailed minister Almgir Alam.

According to the information received so far, Congress MLA Irfan Ansari is leading in the race for the new minister. Immediately after the Lok Sabha election results, Irfan came to Ranchi and met CM Champai Soren.

Congress is also being forced to consider Irfan's name, because after the removal of Alamgir Alam, the party will be left with no minister from the minority quota, which is the biggest vote bank of Congress and it has to go to the assembly elections again after a few months.

Also a discussion has started again in the Champai Soren government regarding the post of 12th minister, which has been vacant in the state government since the time of former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das.

Appointment of Kalpana Soren as the 12th minister is likely soon in the State government. If Kalpana Soren is made a minister, the post of 12th minister which has been vacant for years will be filled.

Looking at the way Kalpana Soren has handled and led the party in the Lok Sabha elections, she is also expected to play a big role in the upcoming assembly elections.
