Chirag Paswan Begins Tenure as Food Processing Industries Minister.

On Tuesday, Chirag Paswan, the Chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) (Ram Vilas), officially assumed his role as the Minister of Food Processing Industries. He was accompanied by his mother and other family members during the ceremony.

Paswan, hailing from Bihar, is among the new faces in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet. As he spoke to reporters, Paswan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to him by the Prime Minister. He emphasised the significance of the Food Processing Ministry, highlighting its potential to transform India's agricultural landscape.

"PM Modi has entrusted me with the responsibility of the Food Processing Ministry, and I am committed to working diligently. The future holds great promise for food processing, and there is vast potential in this sector. In the coming times, India's participation in this field will grow significantly. Progress in this department will contribute to increasing farmers' income and enhancing our agricultural sector. PM Modi has also stressed the importance of taking this department to new heights," Paswan stated.

On the previous day, Paswan had assured that he would fulfil any responsibility assigned to him by the Prime Minister. He expressed his excitement about leading a department he had mentioned in his vision document.

"As an agricultural country, it is crucial that we focus on the processing, packaging, and marketing of agricultural produce. This will not only create numerous employment opportunities but also position this department as a key driver of the country's development," he said.

Paswan emphasised the importance of food processing in modern times, noting its vast potential in India. "Today's era is about processing, and I believe it has immense scope in our country, significantly contributing to our national development," he added.

Chirag Paswan was sworn in as a cabinet minister on Sunday, marking the beginning of his role under the third term of the Modi government. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Paswan secured a victory from the Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency.

Paswan's political journey includes his initial victory in the 2014 elections from the Jamui Lok Sabha seat, where he defeated Sudhansu Shekhar Bhaskar of the Rashtriya Janata Dal. He retained this seat in the 2019 elections, overcoming Bhudeo Choudhary.

In the 2024 general elections, five LJP (Ram Vilas) MPs won seats in the Lok Sabha from Bihar, including Veena Devi, Arun Bharti, Shambhavi Choudhary, Rajesh Verma, and Chirag Paswan.

Paswan's leadership and his new role as Minister of Food Processing Industries are expected to bring significant advancements to India's food processing sector, benefiting farmers and the economy alike.
