BJP's Rijiju, Gao lead in Arunachal LS polls

The BJP is leading in both Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh, as per early trends on Tuesday, according to election officials.

 

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju holds a significant lead in the Arunachal West seat, ahead by 62,161 votes over his nearest rival, Nabam Tuki of the Congress.

 

In the Arunachal East Lok Sabha seat, the BJP's sitting MP Tapir Gao is leading by 17,576 votes over Congress candidate Bosiram Siram.

 

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured both seats with margins exceeding one lakh votes. Voting for the two Lok Sabha seats in the northeastern state took place on April 16, alongside the assembly elections.

 

The ruling BJP achieved a significant victory in the 60-member assembly, winning 46 seats.

 

The National People's Party (NPEP) secured five seats, the NCP three seats, the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) two seats, the Congress one seat, and independent candidates won three seats.

 

A total of 14 candidates contested the parliamentary elections in the state, with eight candidates competing in the West seat.
