Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar didn't mince words when he criticised RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for allegedly taking undue credit for job creation during their shared governance period from August 2022 to January 2024.

Speaking at a rally in the Araria Lok Sabha constituency, Kumar emphasised that while they had collectively aimed to generate 10 lakh jobs, Yadav was now claiming credit for their efforts.

Kumar made it clear that the groundwork for these jobs was laid during their tenure, and Yadav's attempts to claim sole credit were unwarranted.

In a significant political move, Nitish Kumar severed ties with the RJD and joined the NDA in January 2024. He underscored the collaborative efforts between the BJP and the Janata Dal (United) since 2005, emphasising their focus on holistic development across various sectors.

Kumar highlighted achievements such as ensuring electricity, water, and sanitation reached every household. Regarding job creation, he noted that they had already provided employment to 5 lakh people between 2005 and 2020 and were committed to adding more than 10 lakh jobs post-2020, with 4 lakh already generated and plans for an additional 3 lakh.

Araria is gearing up for polls on May 7, with Pradeep Kumar Singh representing the BJP and Shahnawaz Alam contesting for the RJD. Bihar, with its 40 parliamentary seats, is witnessing elections across seven phases.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP-led NDA secured a resounding victory, claiming 39 out of 40 seats, while the Congress managed just one. Despite being a dominant force, the RJD failed to secure any seats.

The opposition coalition, Mahagathbandhan, comprising RJD, Congress, and Left parties, recently announced that RJD would contest 26 seats in Bihar, with the NDA partners BJP and JD(U) contesting 17 and 16 seats, respectively.

Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Jitan Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha will contest five and one seat each, respectively.
