PM Modi launches PM-SURAJ National Portal for credit support to disadvantaged programmes

Modi brought to attention government’s efforts to provide essential amenities like gas connections, bank accounts and toiles to the impoverished, saying that the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047  cannot be achieved without the development of the deprived segments.

PM Modi virtually launched the PM SURAJ national portal on Wednesday at Gana Bhavan in Uttarpara


Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the “ Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan and Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan” (PM SURAJ) national portal on Wednesday at Gana Bhavan in Uttarpara, while sanctioning credit support to almost one lakh entrepreneurs of disadvantaged sections.

 

Modi interacted with the beneficiaries of various government schemes, comprising the scheduled caste, backward class, and sanitation workers. He further affirmed the government’s commitment to prioritise the impoverished community.

 

Modi said that the government had spent nearly ₹1.60 lakh crore for the welfare of the SC community this year alone.

 

“Today’s occasion provides a glimpse of the government’s commitment to prioritise the underprivileged” said Modi. He expressed satisfaction with how welfare schemes are reaching the Dalits, deprived and backward communities. He added that "This makes me emotional as I am not separate from them, and I see in them my family"

 

Modi emphasized about the significance of reaching out to the marginalised communities and ensuring their inclusion in the nation’s development process.

 

He further stressed upon the importance of initiatives like PM-SURAJ in providing financial assistance directly to the beneficiaries, eliminating any middlemen and commissions.

 

Modi brought to attention government’s efforts to provide essential amenities like gas connections, bank accounts and toiles to the impoverished, saying that the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047  cannot be achieved without the development of the deprived segments.

 

The PM also shed light upon various initiatives aimed at empowering the marginalised sectors, such as doubling assistance to SC, ST and the OBC communities, including scholarships for the youth and promoting entrepreneurship through schemes such as Mudra, Yojna and Standup India scheme.

The Prime minister highlighted the heightened funding for national fellowship, especially for students pursuing PhD’s in science-related subjects.

 

In accordance with the constitutional status granted to the National commission for Backward Classes, Modi validated the development of Panch Teerths, associated with the life of Babasaheb Ambedkar.

 

“Keeping in mind the entrepreneurship among Dalits, out government has also launched the Ambedkar Social Innovation and Incubation Mission”, Modi asserted.

 

During the program, the Prime Minister also distributed Ayushman Health Cards and PPE kits to Safai Mitras under the National action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystems(NAMASTE). This initiative aims to safeguard the health and safety of frontline workers who serve in challenging situations.

 

The program witnessed participation of around 3,00,000 thousand beneficiaries of various government schemes from disadvantaged section of the society.
