In a surprising turn of events, Microsoft has surpassed Apple to claim the title of the world's largest company by market value, marking a significant shift in their longstanding rivalry. The enthusiasm among investors for the emerging wave of generative AI has fueled a notable upswing in Microsoft's shares. The company, a major supporter of OpenAI and the creator of the popular AI-driven chatbot ChatGPT, has been at the forefront of AI adoption.
