J&K receives Rs 90,000 Crore investment proposals: LG Sinha

The Finance Ministry's proposal of an interim budget of 14 billion dollars for Jammu and Kashmir emphasized the government's dedication to fostering economic growth and development in the region.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha said on Tuesday that Jammu and Kashmir has received investment proposals worth approximately Rs 90,000 crore.

 

He reiterated the administration's commitment to elevating the Union Territory (UT) to the level of other developed states.

 

The Finance Ministry's proposal of an interim budget of 14 billion dollars for Jammu and Kashmir emphasized the government's dedication to fostering economic growth and development in the region.

 

Speaking at an event in Kathua, Sinha praised the Interim budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for Jammu and Kashmir adding that this is encouraging for the UT.

 

Sinha said, “Efforts are underway to bolster industrial investments on the ground in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, likening its flourishing development to that of Noida in Uttar Pradesh.”

 

"Kathua district is now being equated with Noida of Uttar Pradesh, is investment will reinforce the development and generate employment avenues for the youth", he added.

 

The LG congratulated the IT Services Company, the youth, and residents of Billawar and adjoining areas on the momentous occasion. He also commended the Atomic North for its commitment to creating large job opportunities and boosting technological innovation in the region.

 

“Atomic North is a leading IT services company with offices in India, Canada, the USA, United Kingdom and its expansion in rural J&K is a testimony of the government’s commitment to revive the economy of villages,” he said.

 

Sinha proposed that Atomic North management prioritizes the skill development and up- skilling of the youth from Billawar and surrounding regions, accentuating on the utilization of local talent to fuel rural transformation.

 

In its initial phase, Atomic North will launch a BPO operation with 100 executives, with over 90% recruited from the local youth. Subsequently, the company plans to establish a data centre, a Network Operations Center, and a Security Operations Center in the next phase, creating employment opportunities for 1500 youth and catalyzing further economic growth.

 

Sinha expressing his confidence in the IT firm said “I am sure Atomic North's venture would prioritize customer service and bridge physical distances in the globalized world.”

 

He added that “It would serve as inspiration for other IT companies to establish their presence in rural areas, thereby creating technology hubs in Jammu and Kashmir.”

 

He said the administration will provide all the necessary support to the firms contributing to the development of the UT.

 

The event was graced with presence of Colonel Mahan Singh (Retd), Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC) in Kathua, along with Shri Anand Jain, Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) in Jammu, Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary of the Industries & Commerce Department, Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner in Jammu, Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner in Kathua, and numerous senior officers and prominent citizens, among the youth.
