AI takes center stage: Microsoft's Q3 records $61.9 Billion revenue, $21.9 Billion net income

During the earnings call, Satya Nadella, Microsoft's Chairman and CEO, said that their AI innovation is evolving through the strategic collaboration with OpenAI, with over 65 percent of Fortune 500 companies now leveraging the Azure OpenAI service.

The company's Cloud revenue surged to $35.1 billion, showing a remarkable 23% year-over-year growth for the quarter ending on March 31.


In its third-quarter earnings report, Microsoft announced a substantial revenue increase, reaching $61.9 billion, up 17%. Net income also saw a significant rise, hitting $21.9 billion, marking a 20% increase.

 

Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, emphasised the pivotal role of Copilot and Copilot stack in propelling an AI-driven transformation, driving better business outcomes across various industries and roles.

 

 "Our AI innovation continues to build on our strategic partnership with OpenAI as more than 65 per cent of the Fortune 500 now use Azure OpenAI service," he told analysts during the earnings call.

 

The company's Cloud revenue surged to $35.1 billion, showing a remarkable 23% year-over-year growth for the quarter ending on March 31.

 

Nadella stated that there is a notable increase in significant Azure agreements from industry leaders, with recent announcements of multiyear commitments exceeding a billion dollars from Cloud Software Group and the Coca-Cola Company.

 

Microsoft boasts over 350,000 paid customers, reflecting sustained growth and trust in its offerings.

 

GitHub Copilot, a prominent feature, reported 1.8 million paid subscribers, with quarterly growth exceeding 35%, reflecting a growing demand for AI-powered assistance.

 

Nadella highlighted the democratization of expertise through AI, citing a nearly 50% increase in Copilot-assisted interactions per user in Teams, facilitating seamless integration of group activities with business workflows and enterprise knowledge.

 

In the domain of devices, Copilot integration in Windows witnessed a substantial uptick, now available on nearly 225 million Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs, marking a twofold increase quarter over quarter.
