Around 400 personnel of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) have left for Patna to assist in maintaining law and order during the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, officials said on Saturday.
The elections in Bihar are scheduled in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting set for November 14. Security arrangements across the state are being bolstered, with central and state forces deployed to ensure a free and fair poll.
“A contingent of five companies of TSR departed for Patna by a special train to perform election-related duties in Bihar,” Tripura Police spokesperson Rajdeep Deb said. “The personnel are expected to reach Patna by Sunday morning and will remain there until the conclusion of the polling process.”

Tripura State Rifles, a key paramilitary force in the northeast, is regularly deployed to assist in election management across India, given its experience in handling sensitive situations and maintaining public order.
This deployment comes amid heightened security preparations in Bihar, where multiple central and state forces, including Bihar, BSF, and local police, are being mobilised to manage polling and ensure smooth conduct of the elections.
