The Jammu and Kashmir media delegation received a warm welcome in Mumbai from officials on Monday morning. The media outreach visit has been organised by the Press Information Bureau, Jammu and Kashmir, under the guidance of Neha Jalali, Director, PIB Jammu, as part of the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen media connections and promote national integration.

During the visit, the media delegation toured the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) in Mumbai, where they interacted with senior journalists and were briefed on the history and contributions of the NFDC to Indian cinema.

The NFDC, established under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in 1975, has been instrumental in promoting and financing award-winning Indian films. It also manages prestigious initiatives such as the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and the Cinevesture International Film Festival.
NFDC’s Managing Director, Prakash Magdum, noted the immense potential and growing prominence of Jammu and Kashmir in India’s cinematic landscape.

He said, “The UT offers everything a filmmaker desires, including breathtaking locations, creative talent, and untold stories that need to be conveyed and portrayed through cinema. We are planning to organise a dedicated film festival in the Union Territory soon to showcase its immense potential.”

The chairman also briefed the media delegation about the corporation’s future vision and its expanding role in promoting regional storytelling and broader collaboration.

The engagement with NFDC, coupled with the earlier visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), symbolises India’s twin strengths — economic expansion through maritime excellence and cultural influence through cinema — with Jammu and Kashmir emerging as a promising hub in both domains.
