The Inspector General (IG) of BSF’s Guwahati frontier, Kuldeep Singh, focused on effective boundary management to curb cross-border crimes. Singh assumed the charge as the Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force’s Guwahati frontier on November 28.
Singh, issuing his first statement post taking the role, stressed maintaining cordial relations between the border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh, adding that effective border management is necessary to prevent crimes along the border.
Singh then stressed the need to promote a sense of security among the people residing in the bordering area.
Background of Singh —
A 1990 batch direct entry officer of the BSF cadre. He has extensive field, staff and instructional experience, including key tenures with the NSG and the UN Mission in Kosovo. He has earlier served as an instructor at the BSF Academy and is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.
Singh has taken over the charge from Sukhdev Raj, IG, who has proceeded on posting at Western Command (Chandigarh).
Meanwhile, speaking on Thursday with the media, BSF IG, North Bengal Frontier, Mukesh Tyagi says, "I assure the citizens of India that our borders are secure as our jawans are standing guard. The security of the border is our guarantee."
